People’s consultation day which is called popular consultation day is a special day where the people of Timor-Leste decided to separate themselves from the Republic of Indonesia. To be precise, consultation People’s or what is called popular consultation day which occurred on 30/08/1999 was a day of determination for the people of Timor-Leste to choose in the sense of determining their own destiny at that time.
Through consultation, the people of Timor-Leste were declared a country and separated themselves from the Republic of Indonesia as the 27th province. Many Timor-Leste people, both pro and anti, lost their lives in 1999. Not only lives but millions of materials and buildings were also victims. because the peak of independence was when the consultation period took place in 1999. All of that is part of history.
Hopefully this 25th anniversary of the people’s consultation day can continue to be a history that moves the hearts of generations of the RDTL country to continue working in organizing and developing the RDTL country as an effort to express gratitude to the nation’s warriors, both those who died in the battlefield and which is still with us today.
The image of gratitude certainly cannot be compared to the value of the struggle of the warriors who have fallen on the battlefield for the legacy of the struggle that has been achieved. However, as a generation of the nation, of course we need to realize that independence was achieved thanks to the services of the struggle of previous fighters.
Hopefully, as the next generation, we can commemorate the day of the people’s consultation with prayers and hopes that we will be able to build this country according to the dreams of the warriors when they were willing to risk their lives for the sake of independence through a long struggle both in ideas, as well as body and soul.
TimorLeste, in the age of independence, since the determination of the fate of its people in 1999, to be precise today 30/08, has certainly experienced several phases in which there have been many changes which are now intertwined and developed both with neighboring countries and with countries in the same region or international relations in cooperative relations.
On this day, personally I am very grateful like the next generation of this country. Apart from contributing to building civilization in the world of literacy, we must continue to increase the enthusiasm for learning of this country’s children through reading and writing, speaking and counting. have a positive impact on the RDTL country in the future.
